Above International Law

INTRODUCTION
Perhaps I'm pushing it all a bit too far by reflecting on current issues in the world, but I'm going to do it anyway. This page is about the exploration of certain thought forms that might be shown to us through the international approach by both the United States and the state of Israel. It is not my intention to condemn any nation, it is however my intention to describe some interesting irony that I see. I prefer to write in a rather detached way about these matters.
I tend to think that we are living in an age in which everything is heating up. Like Lory said in a recent email:
...So for those who don't want to bring to
their consciousness the fears and "dark stuff" kept in the freezer, what
happens is just like the stuff that one actually leaves and "forgets" in
the freezer: when something happens that defrosts the freezer,
everything melts and the ugly forgotten stuff is revealed.
Theocratic Grand Masters
In other words, things that used be kept secret, or that was manipulated out of sight, might now surface, one item after the other. I think we are living in interesting times and it might be quite useful to see the nature of certain thought forms. Let's take a look at a few of them. It is easier to combine Israel and the United States in one agent, which I am going to call 'USAI' in the rest of this article, and I am going to pretend as if these two nations are one 'person', since they have much in common.
TO KIDNAP PEOPLE FROM OTHER NATIONS
It cannot be a coincidence that during the days that USAI thought it was quite alright to kidnap hundreds of people from all over the world and put them behind bars in Guantanamo Bay, that people somehow got kidnapped from them as well. Not hundreds, but only a few.
It is fascinating to see the difference in response: hundreds of people are kidnapped without any fair process and USAI gets away with it (at least for a couple of years) and now only three people from the USAI are kidnapped and the USAI reacts fiercely, killing hundreds of people because they claim they have the right to kill so many and probably a lot more because three people have been kidnapped from the USAI. While writing this article the irony wants that the number of people killed by the USAI is likely to reach the number of people that have been kidnapped by the USAI.
Another interesting aspect is the response of the international community. At first no one dared to confront the USAI when they noticed they kidnapped people and stored them in Guantanamo Bay. Probably many countries even aided the USAI in their kidnapping procedures. Now that the USAI kills hundreds of people in another country it is stressed that a country has the right to defend itself and that Hezbollah started the kidnapping. Perhaps the USAI started the kidnapping a few years earlier. Perhaps there is an analogy between the trouble the people kidnapped by USAI have had to go through before they were able to get out, and the trouble the USAI has to get their kidnapped people back.
TO BRING DEMOCRACY
Another very interesting development is what is happening to Hamas in Palestine. USAI has entered Iraq without the consent of the International Community with the excuse that there would be weapons of mass destruction and they were there to bring democracy to Iraq. The only weapons that caused mass destruction in Iraq were used by USAI and when a part of USAI democratically chose Hamas for their government USAI decided that they didn't like this kind of democracy. If democracy would lead to people defying USAI the results are a government that is not even spoken to. Somehow the thoughts of the Hamas are weighed more heavily than their governmental deeds: they don't want to recognize USAI.
When USAI speaks of countries that are part of the axis of evil that is quite alright. USAI is allowed to speak in such terms, just like USAI thinks it is alright to destroy people who think differently, like the people belonging to Hezbollah. When Hezbollah or Hamas speak of USAI as 'evil' that is reason enough to put an international boycot into practice.
OSAMA BIN LADEN AND THE EVIL TERRORISTS
When because of all the heat the fridge doesn't work as well as it used to, some ugly things that were stored in there might start to come alive. Perhaps there is so much stored in the USAI-fridge that it can no longer be held inside.
The might be some truth in the idea that USAI is blasting mirrors that are projected from inside into the international arena. Since they are not willing to look at their own Osama Bin Laden or terrorist from within they seek it outside of themselves and see more and more of them. They say that Al Qaida is a threat to world peace and that the USAI has the right to kill many people, not only in Afghanistan but also in Iraq, Gaza and Lebanon. I guess USAI has killed far more people than all the terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq have killed together. Somehow the world accepts the killings in these countries by USAI. Would they react the same when USAI starts killing dozens of terrorists in their own countries? Somehow there seems to be a strong division between 'the good' and 'the bad' and who would want to oppose to the good?
When president Bush uttered his famous words 'You are either with us or against us in our fight against terrorism' I smiled when I heard the response of the Chinese government. They said they wanted to side with the USAI on the condition that USAI supported their fight against their terrorists hiding in Taiwan.
Another beautiful event that was given to us is what happened to vice president Cheney who accidentally shot a fellow hunter in february 2006. Could this be just another mirror for the possibility that although USAI seems to be hunting something outside of themselves, they might in fact be hunting something that they refuse to see in themselves?
TWISTING THE TRUTH
The events in Iraq present us with a number of cases in which the military has most likely committed hideous deeds, killing many people, and then they twisted the truth in order to make it look that they were acting out of self defence, or that they were killing terribly dangerous terrorists. More and more lies by the USAI are surfacing on various levels in the hierarchy.
A SHIFT IN INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT
Somehow there are cracks appearing in the acceptance 'we are the USAI and we are above international law' attitude of USAI. It really started with the invasion of Iraq by USAI and a couple of USAI-friends without the support of the international community. Especially a number of European nations that had their share of war in the past, openly defied the USAI. De Villepin did this very eloquently during the famous meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations.
USAI needed the support of the majority of the members of the Security Council back then in 2003 (see The UN Security Council and the Iraq War). I remember a few American diplomats talking about the way they expected a number of nations to back them in their desire to go to war in Iraq. A report was written by the (Washington DC) Institute for Policy Studies (see Coalition of the Willing or Coalition of the Coerced?). They conclude that many nations were met with an arm-twisting offensive from the USAI.
Despite these 'diplomatic' methods many nations were not willing to support the USAI, even the poorest of countries. This must have been a major reason for the USAI to decide against presenting the second resolution to the Security Council.
More cracks appeared in the international support when millions of people in the major cities in the world went to the streets to express their thoughts on the way the USAI was dealing with Iraq.
When things continued to go wrong in Iraq more and more nations were willing to speak out against the international policy of USAI. Not only the Arab countries, but many 'friends' of the USAI were openly questioning the USAI. Even Spain and Italy after making a turn to the political left turned critical towards the USAI.
FROM THE USA TO ISRAEL
I guess it is only a question of time before Israel will go through the same process that the USA have gone through the last couple of years. Because of the Bush Administration many nations have learned to question the international approach of the USA. They were able to speak out, even against the giant. There still is a sense of respect for the nation of Israel. That country amidst those evil Arab nations need all the support of the civilized nations they can get and of course there is the memory of the second world war that is very powerful. We wouldn't want the Jewish people to be killed again.
But how long can this 'spell' around Israel hold? How long are we willing to just accept that Israel needs to kill all those terrorists around them in Gaza and now in Lebanon? If Iran decided to bomb a neighboring nation killing about 300 people, the international community would be very active, rapidly, with the USAI in the first row. But, when USAI kills people in other nations it is hardly questioned. There seems to be the idea that when you are critical towards Israel you are yourself supporting organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas and the terrorists.
The 'Israel spell' seems to be losing its power rapidly. Already you hear more nations speak out against the way Israel deals with the current fightings. Even Kofi Annan speaks of the use of excessive force.
The International Court of Justice that has started cases against people who have commited war crimes cannot remain silent when looking at what is happening in the Israeli/Gaza/Lebanon conflict. Can you look the other way when Israel kills numerous citizens of a neighboring country? They would not take themselves seriously if they did.
BOILING THE WATER KILLS THE BACTERIA
Although I might have done better to just keep out of the international political scene, I felt the strong urge to write about USAI as well, especially because I tend to think that is indicative of a process that is going on on various levels, including national and personal: the distorted thought forms that might have been the basis for many interactions between people on various levels are surfacing in order for them to be studied and hopefully transformed.
Only by clearly seeing the distorted thought forms one might find a way to transform these modes of thinking into less distorted reality perspectives. It is therefore that I do not condemn USAI or any other nation or organization, for they present us with the opportunity to recognize the distorted thought forms in ourselves. Let's heat up our own perspectives of reality to finally kill the distorted bacteria called distorted thought.
Being critical towards the USAI, doesn't mean I completely support any other organisation that is critical of the USAI as well. Let's use it to see how many times before our ancestors have thought along the same lines as the USAI does now in our century.
